HUANGSHAN – HANGZHOU – SUZHOU – SHANGHAI Itinerary AB: American Breakfast | L: Lunch | D: Dinner | SD: Special Dinner Day 01 (Fri) US/BEIJING Take an international flight from the US to Beijing, China. Meals and snacks will be served on the plane. Movies will also be available during the flight. Day 02 (Sat) BEIJING Upon arrival in Beijing, you will be met and transferred to your hotel by our tour guide. The rest of the night will be free for your leisure. Day 03 (Sun) BEIJING/CHONGQING (AB, L, D) The highlight today is a trip to the astonishing Great Wall of China at Juyongguan Pass, one of the most remarkable feats of mankind. After lunch, you will stroll along the Sacred Way guarding the Ming Tombs, lined with different statutes of animals such as lions, elephants, camels and etc. Later in the day, you will take a tour of the Olympic Park where you will view the exterior of the Bird Nest-China National Stadium and Water Cube-China National Aquatic Center. Take a late flight to Chongqing and stay overnight in Chongqing.
After breakfast you will be transferred to the pier for embarking on the cruise ship, which is scheduled to depart 10:00 am. Upon arrival in Fengdu, the legendary home of the King of Hades – often referred to as the “ghost city”– in the afternoon, you will go ashore to view the Mingshan Hill’s temples or visit the new relocation village. Day05 (Tues) THE YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE: BADONG/SAN DOU PING (AB, L, D)
Upon arrival in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province and the major transportation hub in central China, you will take a walking tour of downtown Wuhan, and visit the famous Hubei Provincial Museum. Continue sailing on the Yangtze later tonight. Day 08 (Fri) THE YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE: MT. HUANGSHAN (AB, L, D) Today’s full day shore excursion takes you to Mt. Huangshan, also known as “Yellow Mountain”. Enjoy its peculiarly-shaped granite peaks, pine trees, views of the sea of clouds from above , sunset and hot springs. Mt. Huangshan is also listed as the World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site. Day 09 (Sat) THE YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE: NANJING (AB, L, D) The cruise ship arrives in Nanjing, one of the ancient capital cities in China. You will take a shore excursion of Nanjing touring Dr. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple. Return to the ship to continue sailing for Shanghai later in the evening. Day 10 (Sun) SHANGHAI/HANGZHOU (AB, L, D) Cruise ship is scheduled to arrive in Shanghai at 8:00 am. Upon disembarkation, you will take a bus or train ride to Hangzhou, the most beautiful city in the world as praised by Marco Polo. Upon arrival, you will tour the Pagoda of Six Harmonies built in the year 970 AD if time permits. Day 11 (Mon) HANGZHOU/SUZHOU (AB, L, D) After breakfast, you will cruise the scenic West Lake and enjoy the fascinating sceneries around the lake. You will also view goldfish at Flower Harbor at the West Lake which is considered one of the top ten scenic attractions of the West Lake. Visit a tea orchard and learn the Chinese tea culture. Then take an afternoon bus ride to Suzhou, often referred to as the “Venice of the East”.
Today you will cruise on the world famous ancient Grand Canal of more than 2400 years history to experience the unique cultures and glimpse the daily life of the local residents. You will also visit the silk embroidery factory, the Lingering Garden and the ancient Panmen Gate, the only existing water & land gate. After dinner you will take a bus ride back to Shanghai. Shanghai, China’s largest city (home to 16 million people), is also China’s principal port on a deep estuary of the Yangtze River. Often regarded as “the Paris of the East,” Shanghai has retained the flavor of its past European influences. Day 13 (Wed) SHANGHAI (AB, L, SD) After breakfast, you will take an excursion to Zhujiajiao, a water village near Shanghai with a history of more than 1000 years. You will experience the serene country lifestyle of the local residents, and immerse yourself in the “old world” architecture and the local customs that have been well preserved. In the afternoon, visit the Bund, bustling Nanjing Road and well-known Shanghai Museum of Art and History, which ranks among the great museums of the world. Attend a farewell dinner celebration of Shanghai cuisine in the evening, followed by a cruise on Huangpu River to enjoy a fascinating night view of Shanghai. Day 14 (Thurs) SHANGHAI (AB) Today you may take an optional tour of the 2010 World Expo venues in Shanghai or enjoy your free day for leisure.
